noob to pvp
I having been playing for a while. I have completed all the mission, but i have yet to play pvp. I was wondering how someone goes about finding a guild to join. I have been playing in sorrow's furnace and would like to go to the underworld, but henchmen are not very helpful here

Ways of finding guilds:
a) this forum had a section dedicated to guilds b) friends made through PUGs who are in a guild c) responding to any yell in a city (I somehow feel that you won't join the best guilds this way) d) chatting in outposts that are still "chat" friendly: Ice Caves, Fishermens Haven, Maguuma Glade, etc. |

Hmmm...
Well I think you got the idea of PvP wrong, or are looking for the wrong Underworld. There's basically 3 types of Underworld: The one from Temple of Ages, you can only reach it when your region has favor, The one from Tombs of Primeval Kings, where PvP used to live ( to gather fame etc. ) , and the one in hero's ascent, wich is basically the same level, without monsters, but still used for PvP. Henchmen + PvP doesn't work. Basically, to go PvP, go to the battle isles. All your PvP needs are located there. To find a guild, advertise there, or any big city. |

I understand the differnt underworlds, my problem is every time i have joined a group to play a mission or quest it was a total failure. It was always better to use henchmen. I was wondering how to find a good guild not just any guild

If you are interested in PvP, head to random arenas and test some builds out. Unfortunately, I do not think there are many PvP-intensive guilds willing to take on total beginners, and if there are, the slots fill up quickly.
However, take heart: Factions is coming soon, and lots of guilds are going to want to get into PvP more (it is my belief) so if you find simply a nice guild you get along with, you're good to go. You can all learn together. How to find a good guild? Well, if you're just looking for nice, friendly people, do your missions with your henchmen if you like, but... whilst standing around in a mission town, check to see if there are multiple folks from one guild in there. That is a signal that they help one another. Ditch the henches, and try to get in their group! Don't bring up guild membership right away, but watch how they play. If they're really super-quiet, it means they're all talking on TS or Vent, which is another good sign. Be a good, responsive player, and at the end, when you or they bring up the subject, it will probably go well. Good luck! |

i dont suggest going to heroes ascent quite yet if you have no experience being in teams in HA. i suggest you first go to random arenas and team arenas playing with ONE class and trying to understand how different skills and builds work. i also suggest try watching some PvP battles (press [B] to get a list of battles) and study one class you are interested in and when you're not doing anything try to get all the skill caps and skills for the build you are interested in. When you think your ready try to get in an unranked group in HA. and if you're looking for a pvp guild, heroes' ascent is the place to be. I'm sure there are unranked guilds out there that are helping each other out. you might get lucky and get into a ranked guild willing to help out new players but again you have to be really lucky since so many people discriminate on ranks nowadays.

A good guild (and there are a few) can introduce you to all of this and help you learn whatever you like. Find one with folks who are active around the same time as you, who will at least say hi, and answer one or two questions at a minimum! A good guild plays together, gvg AND pve in my opinion. There is a whole game to experience. There are other types of guilds and many folks prefer one or the other, pro level pvp guilds, pve only, heck even hardcore roleplaying. But in my opinion (yeah I know we all have em) this game is best when played with a team (aka friends).
